5/9/2006 The Humour ThingI was enjoying the humour pics, but they have been there for a while. So I thought I would put up some images from one of my favourite artist's. Lowry wasn't into all that pomp and ceromony stuff, he painted England as he saw it. I ain't no art critic so can't do anything fancy about why I like Lowry's work. I just do. 9/18/2005 Frodo, Frodo Give us A Wave.Green Street (The Movie, not The Place)
Actually watched Green Street tonight. It's a half decent film, better than 'The Football Factory' which is well worth a watch also, well in my opinion. Elijah Woods put's in a good performance (well I expected nothing else after watching 'Sin City'). Granted, his character in Green Street doesn't really lend itself to a Oscar performance, being a little to cliched for any actor to get his teeth into. Still he does a good job and the film is written well, but some of the lesser characters could have been explored more. Still it's well worth a look and certainly isn't the worst film I've seen this year.
Statues and That
Back to the atatue in Trafalgar Square. I got to admit that I was a little bit flippant last night (or whenever it was). My wife and I were discussing the story tonight and there is somthing compelling about the statue and it is an exceptional piece of sculpture, but... (isn't there alwas a but) the controversy surrounding it can only diminish it as a work of art. Red Ken (remember him :-)?) Only pushed for it's erection onto the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square to create controversy and to piss off the establishment. So now, instead of being seen for what it is, a beautiful piece of art depicting a naked pregnant woman robbed of arms and fully formed legs by a genetic quirk, it will be seen as 'The piece of sculpture that caused all that controversy'. Sad really, because the original was exceptional and the 11.5 foot (metre?) copy/whatever is also pleasing to the eye with exceptional work by Italian Freemasons plying a fast fading craft. It'll be interesting to see what Red ken will do next for his 15 minutes of daily fame :-)
Mines A Lager and a Pardon.
John Ellis Bush son of Governor Jeb Bush was arrested early Friday for being rat arsed and resisting arrest.
Look Mr Policeman sir, when your trying to atrophy certain internal organs and some twonk in a uniform trys to stop you, of course your gonna resist, plus his dads a governor... Do they still have that three strikes and out thing going on in Texas :-)
Too bed, enjoy your day/evening/night whatever your experiencing at this moment. |
